Ingredients
Ribs
-
2 full slabs of baby back spare ribs
-
2 tbs brown sugar
-
1 tbs paprika
-
1 tsp cayenne powder
-
½ tbs salt
-
½ tbs black pepper
-
1 tsp dried thyme
Sauce
-
1 cup apple butter
-
1 cup Sweet Baby Ray's Barbecue Sauce
-
1 tbs apple cider vinegar
-
1 tbs yellow mustard
-
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
-
salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
-
Preheat your grill to 300°F.
-
With a butter knife, remove the membrane under each slab of ribs by inserting the knife between the membrane and one of the bones, grab a few paper towels to pull the membrane completely.
-
Mix the brown sugar, paprika, cayenne powder, salt, black pepper, and dried thyme in a small bowl then apply the rub on both sides of the ribs with your hands.
-
Place the ribs on the grill for 45-60 min. Turn the ribs every 10-15 minutes.
-
Add all the Apple Butter BBQ Sauce ingredients to a saucepan and simmer for 5 minutes. Now, wrap the ribs in aluminum foil with 1 cup of the Apple Butter BBQ Sauce on top of each. Grill for an additional 1 hour at 300°F. Ribs are done when the meat has shrunk about 1 inch from the bones. Make sure to reach an internal temperature of 190°- 205° for the best taste and for food safety purposes.
-
Once fully cooked, remove from foil and sear over direct heat for 20-30 seconds per side to caramelize the bbq sauce. Serve with a mountain of Roasted Garlic Kraut and Hasselback potatoes. Enjoy!
