Ingredients

1 ½ lbs. lean ground beef

2 cloves garlic, minced

½ tsp. ginger, ground

1 tsp. sesame oil
-
1 tsp. soy sauce
- 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes

1-2 tsps. olive oil

¾ cup mayonnaise
-
salt and pepper, to taste

4 hamburger buns, toasted

4 lettuce leaves
-
1 cup Classic Kimchi, divided
Korean BBQ Sauce:
- ¾ cup soy sauce
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup rice vinegar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons chili garlic sauce
- 1 ¼ tsp. sesame oil
- 1 tsp. grated ginger
- ½ tsp. freshly ground black
- pepper
- 2 tbsp. corn starch
- 1 tbsp. honey
Instructions
- Place ground beef in a large bowl and break up into chunks. Add all of spices and seasonings into the meat and gently mix into the meat. Portion out 4 burger patties about 1 in. thick for cooking.
- Heat a skillet or pan over medium-high heat and add olive oil to the pan. Cook burgers for about 4-5 minutes per side until cooked through.
- For the sauce, add all ingredients including the cornstarch to a small saucepan and blend well.
- Heat over medium heat and allow the sauce to simmer for a few minutes until it becomes thick. Let it cool.

To assemble burgers, spread mayonnaise on the bottom bun, add lettuce then the burger patty.

Glaze the burger with Korean BBQ sauce. Top with 1-2 tbsp. of Classic Kimchi and the other bun.

Notes
The burger patties can be made a day ahead of time. Place them on a sheet pan lined with foil and cover tightly with saran wrap to keep fresh.
